I was able to deflect before saying something sharp along the lines of: "If I wanted to follow a monotheist influencer, it would be someone who isn't a fascist asshole."

I like getting out of South Dakota but I don't think I could live in a suburb of big city Texas. Traffic is crazy here and it doesn't cool off at night.
Spokane in the aughts was a perfect place to live - cheap rent, tall trees, great parks, a fun downtown, public transportation, populated but not crowded to the point of being crazy.
I've come to realize that the lifestyle I lead in South Dakota is extraordinarily unhealthy, and my unhealthy, unbalaced lifestyle has become encoded in my behaviors and social interactions. I should treat escaping SD as the matter of life or death that it is.

I just had a granola bar from HEB that was the best granola bar of my entire life. How is it that the food is always twice as good and half the price whenever I visit Texas?

And don't worry about me too much - right now its just a moderately annoying upper respiratory infection. I'm initiating the usual illness protocols - hot tea with honey and lemon, hot baths, plenty of fluids, that kind of thing.
On the upside, maybe being this worn down by being ill will put a crack in my insomnia!
I am much improved on day 3 of my illness. So far, it was just a sore throat, minor nasal involvement, and a mild sense of being systemically ill. Last night was one of the most solid nights of sleep I've had in weeks, and this morning I feel much improved. I will still do the Covid test this morning - sometimes that fucker likes to make you think you're improving before coming back. But I think I'm OK.
I smell smoke. Is this the first forest fire of what will probably be a very active season? The American West is going to burn unless we get some real precipitation.

But, if I were interpret it as an omen, eagles represent courage, strength, and sovereignty. Perhaps you are being encouraged to maintain these qualities.
