In some ways, modern media criticism is corporate crime reporting. Major news media are fundamentally corporations--that used to be a controversial thing to say--and some of the things they do, in mis- and disinforming us about the world and ourselves and our political possibilities constitute, minimally, moral crimes. https://fair.org/home/russell-mokhiber-on-covering-corporate-crime/

In the Washington Post’s view, voters’ irrational hatred of the establishment “puts pressure on leadership to lurch leftward”—in other words, respond to voters’ demonstrated needs and preferences. It’s voters’ desires, not politicians who repeatedly defy the will of voters, that “will make it harder for Democrats to win in 2028.” The paper dismissed Democratic voters as clueless members of the “far left,” fueled by inexplicable anger at their sober-minded betters. https://fair.org/home/corporate-pundits-panic-over-democratic-voters-preferences/

Since March, Israel has killed at least 4,321 people in Lebanon—despite a series of so-called “ceasefires”—and has issued “evacuation orders” (read: “ethnic cleansing directives”) covering no less than one-fifth of the country. One would thus be forgiven for feeling slightly less optimistic than Marco Rubio regarding the potential for a “realistic path out of endless conflict.” US corporate media, however, have done their best to put a positive spin on things. https://fair.org/home/media-cheering-a-deal-that-puts-lebanon-on-the-chopping-block-for-israel/

The FTC, weaponized, along with so many nominally nonpartisan agencies, in service of MAGA and Trumpism, launched a legal attack on the group Media Matters, because of a report that rattled Elon Musk. Three years later, the FTC is throwing in the towel on that bullying, with a legally binding settlement.

Media Matters president Angelo Carusone says the victory “shows the importance of holding power to account, and the importance of fighting instead of folding.”
