Eric is the Knight Professor of Journalism and Media Ethics at Washington and Lee University and a Critic at Large at NPR. For 12 years he was NPR’s first full-time TV critic, media analyst and guest host. Before that, he worked 18 years at the Tampa Bay Times newspaper as pop music critic, editorial board member, media critic and TV critic. He has appeared as a contributor or guest host on NBC Nightly News, CNN’s Reliable Sources and other TV programs He also has written or contributed to five books and been published in the New York Times, Washington Post, POLITICO, VIBE magazine, EBONY magazine and other outlets.
