Sich jeden Tag Gedanken machen zu müssen, wie man das eigene Leben und das der Leute um sich herum am Besten vor den Entscheidungen der gewählten Volksvertreter langfristig absichern kann, ist ganz schön ermüdend.
Wann genau ist dieses ganze Land eigentlich in den Verteidigungsmodus gegen die Politik gekippt?

In Germany we have contracted nouns for everything.
We don't say "Imperial Fists", we say "Stresshummeln" and I think that's beautiful.
(A friend who is really, really, REALLY into Dorn's anxious yet productive sons calls them that and it's spreading.)

On the contrary, the number of queer people at events at the local store is above average. And that makes me happy.
But I see it's important to prevent online fashs to leak into our space. So we keep continuing in making our space as unwelcoming to them as possible! 😁

Leider sind viele Minipainter, deren Werke ich gerne angeschaut habe, nirgendwo sonst.
Aber dafür habe ich hier auf Mastodon andere Minipainter gefunden, die vielleicht nicht ganz so perfekte Fotos posten, dafür aber immer für Diskussionen, Tipps und Spaß zu haben sind.
Eine kleinere Community ist nicht immer schlechter.

@dnparadice @thomasfuchs I have been trying to 100 percent avoid Amazon, but with a lot of places to buy eBooks from, it's more walled gardens. Kobo requires their own hardware or an Adobe ID. The books I want to buy are rarely available at other sources. I have tried so much, but everything is so complicated and time consuming and in the end I'm not owning my books.
I am back to sailing the high seas and instead of paying publishers I'm donating to the authors directly. If they offer that.

@mightyforgerunner@mastodon.social Someone on Tumblr pointed out the possibility of this being a countermeasure to people already pirating the books too much. But I don't think that's the case. GW's cash cow are the little plastic men. Books are just promotion we buy.

@alyn @annecavicchi @dnparadice @thomasfuchs Yes. I want to buy books, store them on my computer and read them on my different devices. And Kobo doesn't let me download epub/mobi/whatever files, if I don't have an Adobe ID.
If I bought a file, I should be able to download it without any further hurdles.

@annecavicchi @dnparadice @thomasfuchs I don't have a Kobo reader and as I tried downloading my bought book it only gave me a tiny file. The Kobo website told me that I need an Adobe ID.
I found plug-in solutions to get Kobo files to work on Calibre, but I am not computer savvy enough to get it to work.
