For rental/investment properties there's already tax on the profits. Property tax is just double dipping. All it does is pushing up the rents because companies want to be profitable. Tax (increases) immediately show up in rent increases.

The "super-duper sanctions" Trump announced is likely the administration's off-ramp without having to declare they lost the stupid war they started. They likely expect that the whole Iran fiasco will fade into the background noise. Billions wasted, billions won in insider trading - let's not talk about the whole thing any more. There are a couple of flies in the ointment though, no oil from the gulf, and US bases around Iran are destroyed and unlikely to be rebuilt.
