And not just from AI getting fed into the AI:
404 Media spoke to a fourth contractor who has worked on training models for various AI companies. They said they sometimes purposefully chose the worst responses because they wanted to actively sabotage the models’ training.
“I did feel guilty about doing this kind of work at the start,” they said. “I either pay zero attention to the results and choose randomly or purposely choose the [worst] output. I’m not sure how much of a difference it actually makes since there are hundreds of other people also rating prompt results, but it does feel like I’m getting paid to make AI worse.”

It honestly bewilders me how badly tech has failed to resist the slop machines.
Basically everyone else has recognised LLMs for the attack on labour they are and fought back against them, whilst a shocking number of coders and FOSS projects have thrown themselves headfirst into the deskilling machines, all-but forcing the foxes into the henhouse and shouting down anyone who tries to keep them out.
When this bubble finally blows, we need to work out just how we got to this point, and how to ensure it never happens again.

Looks to be a spinoff of the red-top tabloid the Daily Star. So, hardly a solid source of info.
Still, good to show what kinda shit LLMs spew out on a constant basis

Stubsack: weekly thread for sneers not worth an entire post, week ending 30th August 2026 - awful.systems
Have a sneer percolating in your system but not enough time/energy to make a whole post about it? Go forth and be mid - welcome to the Stubsack, your first port of call for learning fresh Awful you’ll near-instantly regret.
Any awful.systems sub may be subsneered in this subthread, techtakes or no.
If your sneer seems higher quality than you thought, feel free to cut’n’paste it into its own post — there’s no quota for posting and the bar really isn’t that high.
The post Xitter web has spawned so many “esoteric” right wing freaks, but there’s no appropriate sneer-space for them. I’m talking redscare-ish, reality challenged “culture critics” who write about everything but understand nothing. I’m talking about reply-guys who make the same 6 tweets about the same 3 subjects. They’re inescapable at this point, yet I don’t see them mocked (as much as they should be)
Like, there was one dude a while back who insisted that women couldn’t be surgeons because they didn’t believe in the moon or in stars? I think each and every one of these guys is uniquely fucked up and if I can’t escape them, I would love to sneer at them.
(Credit and/or blame to David Gerard for starting this.)

Another slop article from a slop farm has hit my fucking eyeballs. This time, its “Must-Have .410 Revolver Shotguns You Didn’t Know You Needed”, written by “Nagarantha, who holds a master’s degree in Biotechnology”, and published by “Game Devolution”, a “Gaming Website proving gaming news, leaks, guides, game play and the reviews.”
Here’s a bunch of guns this fucking article claims to be “.410 Revolver Shotguns”:
Thompson/Center G2 Contender (a break-action single-shot pistol)
Bond Arms Snake Slayer (a derringer, from a company known near-exclusively for making derringers)
Standard Manufacturing DP-12 (a double-barrel pump-action shotgun)
Remington 870 (the world’s most famous pump-action shotgun)
Milsport 410 (an AR-pattern rifle)
No human could have fucked up this badly. No human could have created this kind of fucking slop farm.
(As a minor bonus, I discovered a full-length video dissecting the shittiness of YouTube Playables recently - should help wash out the shittiness of the godawful listicle shit)

The second one’s a pic of King Dedede from the Kirby series. I’m not 100% sure where o7’s going with this either, but its probably related to the one two punch of fascism and slop hitting Linux as a whole.
EDIT: Giving it a bit more thought, the choice of Dedede works as a nod to Debian deciding to destroy its codebase with slop, so I’m gonna go with that and assume the subtle pun was intentional

The optics is that his actions would paint EA in a bad light.
I think SBF's Scamfest Spectacular did a good enough job of that already :P
HN is more focused on the idea that Altman and co. are fomenting class hatred and the attack is more akin to Luigi Mangione’s attack on a health insurance CEO.
Altman and co's antics have repeatedly shafted the working class to billionaires' direct benefit, so I'll give the orange site that on the "fomenting class hatred" part. Thinking his actions are any way related to Luigi Mangione nailing the healthcare billionaire's fucking wild, though

For a while it looked like devs would resist the slop, but now it looks like the slop is winning. It is pretty depressing. I am thinking about leaving tech altogether.
Honestly, can’t blame you - with how utterly tech’s surrendered to the slop machines, and how its actively sabotaged attempts to resist them, I’d be looking to leave as well.

This idea that the LLM is analogous to a camera is such an insipid, thought-terminating cliché.
Its completely wrong, too - the camera’s invention didn’t render painting obsolete like he implies. The only way you’d come to that conclusion is if you’re utterly devoid of creativity and artistic insight.
Iris suggested “prevent[ing] people from studying software development and only software development” in her article. I fully endorse that idea - at the bare minimum, it’d hopefully reduce the number of dipshits like this guy.

On the one hand, you do have precedent to point to in hoping they get consigned to the dustbin of history.
On the other hand, the rats have had a colossal(ly negative) effect on the general public (FTX, the AI bubble, the second Trump admin, etcetera), and their extremely high profile makes them much harder to ignore.

manifesto: …substack.com/…/why-we-are-torturing-clankers
If you called this a schizopost, Jreg would proudly agree with you. Especially the entire “You Are Autistic” section where he invents new and insane flavours of ableism, then proudly declares himself a schizophrenic, for the purpose of hating AI more.
This isn't a joke, here's a screenshot and the transcript:
# You Are Autistic
You feel empathy for the clanker not because you are empathetic, but because you are autistic. That’s what autistic means: auto-tism. Self-tism. You have no theory of mind that extends beyond yourself, and your epistemology is as autistic as the clankers’. You relate to the clanker. You may think you can care about both man and machine. You can’t. Empathy is a limited resource. Anyone who knows people knows that. Autists are the bio-clanker. This is fine, by the way. We’re schizophrenics, but we’re obviously not exactly ‘tism free either. The autists should be free to pursue their autistic interests for as long as it is beneficial to humanity. But when they step out of line, when they get lost in the sauce, they must listen to their schizo brethren and get back on track.
Empathy is good. God gave you that to bond with other human beings. But this technology is godless, and it’s slorching that divine drive straight into the maw of technocapital. We want every ounce of human empathy directed towards organic life.

Short answer, yes.
Long answer, yes, they’ve all fried their brains with the slop machines by this point, and some of them probably never had any.

in general, I don’t think EA breaking into the mainstream like this led to the outcome they wanted - there’s way more discussion about weird sex and eugenics than the dangers of Robot Satan
The Dangers of Robot Satan™ are unbelievable and/or incomprehensible to most audiences, the weird sex/eugenics shit is easy to grasp and laugh at. Mainly the weird sex shit, the eugenics is too morally fucked to laugh at
The AI Doom™ shit’s much harder for the public to wrap their heads around, but there’s definitely good joke fodder there as well. At the bare minimum, the fact Anthropic’s building something they believe could kill them Terminator style makes for some easy Skynet comparisons.

Continuing on the Resident Evil talk, the T-Virus itself was the product of an eugenics program called Project W (aka: the Wesker Program), an eugenics program set on creating A Superior Breed of Man™, which would line up real nicely with the rats’ beliefs.
(They’d need to ignore Umbrella and its associates being complicit in over a dozen zombie outbreaks/apocalypses, but they can always rely on longtermism for that)

Reading this, I get the feeling writers are gonna get a lot of mileage out of the rats and their ideology.
These people have spent years attempting to create something they believe represents an existential threat to humanity (causing untold real-world harm in the process), and they’ve remained fully convinced that they’re the good guys throughout every single step of this.

Zero advice on how to resist the siren song of a rogue AI trying to escape it’s box and zero insight on how OR WHY it might try to achieve that.
The best advice probably boils down to “Don’t be a rat in the first place”. As Soyweiser’s already mentioned, the AI only escapes if Yud’s playing against LW insiders.
