The other day my almost 9yo was lamenting that the group she considers the "cool girls" said cool words. Trying to be supportive, I said "Like what? I'm sure you could learn to use them, too!"

And I deserve a medal for keeping a completely straight face when she responded: "They say cool stuff like 'jk' and 'lol' "

Now that style queries have landed in Firefox, the next thing I need is `closedby` for dialog supported in Safari.

@davatron5000@mastodon.social this is incredible and I will be using this for Spectrum Web Components, too! 🙌

PS - putting this project of ours on your radar in case you'd like to contribute any other CSS oddities for shadow DOM! I'll add your article as a resource for scope and the one issue I didn't already have listed soon.

Sort of serendipitously came up with a #CSS trick at work yesterday that definitely solves an old problem. Might finally have a new blog post to write this weekend…

Dear conference organizers,

I *really* want to give a talk on “the ergonomics of the cascade” (aka the “C” in CSS) because tools for managing it are both more powerful and more confusing than ever before.

Secondarily, I’m pretty excited to share a trove of findings about styling when you’re handling cross-context concerns between light and shadow DOM.

If either of those sound like a fit, message me or point me to your CFP, thanks! 💜

Just published the first contribution to the Shadow DOM for #CSS project, courtesy of @knowler@sunny.garden!

Check out why `@ keyframes` is ranked "Use With Caution"

https://shadow-dom-css.adobe.com/features/at-keyframes/

This is definitely a feature that really shows the importance of exposing this kind of data!

(PS - grab the RSS feed if that's your thing!)

🌟 I'm once again asking that if you're a maker of the web, consider your New Year's resolution to be making usable, accessible, performant sites/applications.

@boxysvg Yes, we are very actively working on that, and it will be OS. Part of the overhaul is improving our CSS implementation, which is what inspired this project!

@jaredwhite @knowler Great! Nuance like that - which is presently typically not covered on resources like MDN - is exactly what we want to uncover, especially if there are outstanding spec or browser compat issues.
