In November 2022 WHO started to phase out the term Monkeypox to be replaced by #Mpox. Yet today I heard a consultant talking about Monkeypox to a resident doctor. I had to strongly correct them three times. Then explain they can't find it on the computer because it isn't called that! https://www.who.int/news/item/28-11-2022-who-recommends-new-name-for-monkeypox-disease

WHO recommends new name for monkeypox disease

Following a series of consultations with global experts, WHO will begin using a new preferred term “mpox” as a synonym for monkeypox. Both names will be used simultaneously for one year while “monkeypox” is phased out.
