If approved, the data centre would have a capacity of 1GW - bigger than any other in the world - using 7 million MWh of energy per year, equivalent to over two million homes. KI-Rechenzentren in den Orbit zu schießen ist absurd teuer, verschwendet Ressourcen und schadet dem Klima. Dazu kommt ein teures Problem: die Abwärme. Im Vakuum gibt es keine Luft, die Wärme abführt. Die Vorteile? Die Sonne scheint rund um die Uhr. Man braucht keine Baugenehmigung. Und anzünden kann man die Dinger da oben auch nicht. Letzteres wird in Zukunft vermutlich immer wichtiger werden. #ai #datacenters

At Trump's rally in #Ohio last night, #Trump rambled on and on about #DataCenters to dead silence. Of course, all #Republican electeds who aren't in dementia know this issue is wildly unpopular. But we know some people will drink the kool-aid no matter what. That's why we cannot know whether this woman was a real #MAGA or a resister trolling the candidates. Accidentally or deliberately, she made Ohio's R Senate candidate the face of data centers and Sherrod Brown pounced.

I've decided to start a project to help neighbors of existing data centers and proposed data centers to monitor noise using <$300 field units. I haven't built it yet, but I have done two other monitor projects with success, so I do not anticipate this will be any different... just a different set of variables and sensors.
