"As August came to a close, nearly 8.3 million acres had burned across the U.S., setting a year-to-date record. This isn’t particularly surprising." ➡️ Read our latest monthly state of the climate report: https://www.climatecentral.org/climate-briefings/august-2026 🎨 Download and share more global/U.S. climate visuals too: https://www.climatecentral.org/climate-briefings/august-2026#additional-graphics

A study of 10 million people found those taking Semaglutide before catching COVID-19 were less likely to die. Researchers think its anti-inflammatory effects and benefits for blood sugar, weight and heart health may help. Clinical trials are still needed to confirm the benefit. Ten-million-person study links semaglutide to lower COVID-19 mortality

Researchers analyzing claims from more than 10.1 million commercial insurance and Medicare Advantage enrollees found that semaglutide use was associated with a 49% lower adjusted hazard of COVID-19-related death. The observational findings corroborate earlier SELECT trial results but do not establish causation, making further prospective research essential.

@wolframkriesing@mastodontech.de @shawnhooper@fosstodon.org There is a "whereLike" method available which takes it from where(c, 'like', '%string%') to `whereLike(c, %string%') which makes it a little more explicit: https://laravel.com/docs/12.x/queries#additional-where-clauses
